Bloukrans Bridge

Bloukrans Bridge

Bloukrans Bridge is the Garden Route's big adrenaline stop — home to the world's highest commercial bridge bungee jump, a 216 m plunge over the Bloukrans River gorge. For expats it's a bucket-list dare, and there's a gentler bridge walk for spectators.

What you're looking at

Bloukrans is the highest bridge in Africa, a graceful concrete arch completed in 1983 on the N2 near the Eastern/Western Cape border. The bungee (run by Face Adrenalin) launches from the middle of the deck — 216 m, the world's highest from a bridge. If you'd rather keep your feet on solid ground, the "Bridge Walk" takes you out under the deck to the jump point, and there's a zip-line too.

Visiting as a resident

It's on the N2 about 40 km east of Plettenberg Bay, an easy stop on any Garden Route drive. Book the bungee ahead in peak season; walk-ups are possible off-season. Even if you don't jump, the viewpoint and café make a good break.

Good to know

  • The bungee is the world's highest from a bridge (216 m).
  • The Bridge Walk is a lower-key way to see it without jumping.
  • Book ahead in peak (Dec–Jan) holiday season.
  • Combine it with Tsitsikamma just up the road.
