The Yves Saint Laurent Museum (mYSLm) is Marrakech's polished modern culture stop — a purpose-built museum next to Jardin Majorelle dedicated to the designer who made the city a second home. For expats it's an easy, air-conditioned hour of design and a natural pairing with the garden.
What you're looking at
Opened in 2017, the museum sits beside the garden Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé restored. Its terracotta-brick building houses a rotating selection from the vast YSL archive — the tuxedo "Le Smoking," safari looks, and pieces shaped by Moroccan colour and light — plus a temporary exhibition space, a bookshop, and a café. (There's a separate sister museum in Paris.)
Visiting as a resident
It's in the Gueliz/Ville Nouvelle area, a short taxi ride from the medina, and shares a doorstep with Jardin Majorelle — do both together. The main collection is compact; allow an hour, more if there's a temporary show on.
Good to know
- Buy a combined ticket with Jardin Majorelle to save time.
- Go early; the whole Majorelle block gets busy by mid-morning.
- The café and bookshop are worth a stop.
- Photography rules are stricter than in the garden — check on arrival.
